What is MindBody therapy ?
MindBody therapy works by addressing the way the brain and nervous system generate and maintain symptoms. It is based on the principle of neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to learn, adapt, and rewire itself over time.
In chronic pain and other persistent symptoms, the nervous system can become sensitised and stuck in protective patterns. Even when the body is no longer injured, the brain may continue to interpret signals as dangerous and produce symptoms. Neurosomatic therapy helps identify and change these learned patterns.
This is done through a combination of techniques, including:
-
Education about how the brain and body create symptoms
-
Awareness of triggers and conditioned responses
-
Nervous system regulation (e.g. somatic tracking)
-
Processing of emotional stress that may be contributing to symptoms
-
Gradual retraining of the brain to interpret sensations as safe
By consistently applying these strategies, the brain learns that the body is no longer under threat. Over time, this reduces the need for protective symptoms, allowing pain and other conditions to decrease or resolve.
